The Active Schools Guiding Framework summarizes the nine essential elements of an active school culture and can be used to advocate for more physical activity.
At Active Schools, we know that physical activity is an essential component of healthy living and we want all children to reap the benefits. We believe that PK-12 schools are an ideal (and necessary) setting for children to participate in regular physical activity because schools are equipped with resources to encourage and support movement and have almost daily access to children. As with education more broadly, we believe that physical activity is a right, not a privilege. ALL children deserve to learn, grow, and thrive in Active Schools. This guide is intended to support your efforts.
The Active Schools Guiding Framework was posted August 2022. We will be taking the 2022-23 school year to review and revise it as necessary. We would welcome your feedback! Please use this LINK to share your ideas.
