Let’s Move! Active Schools reveals 2015 NBA FIT winners

Today, Let’s Move! Active Schools announced 16 winning schools from its 2015 NBA FIT prize giveaway.

 The grand prize winner – Central Visual and Performing Arts High School (St Louis City Public School District, MO) will receive a NBA/WNBA FIT Day, while the second prize recipients will score a NBA/WNBA FIT Kit.

During the NBA/WNBA FIT Day, Central Visual and Performing Arts High School students will participate in fitness and basketball skills stations and learn new physical activity tips and ideas from current NBA/WNBA players or legends. Second prize schools will enjoy new fitness equipment like jump ropes, Spalding basketballs, floor spots, cones, bean bags, agility hurdles, ladder to help keep students moving throughout the year.

The NBA and Let’s Move! Active Schools teamed up for a special prize giveaway from January 21 – February 25, 2015 to foster support for active learning environments where kids get at least 60 minutes of physical activity before, during and after the school day. Each Let’s Move! Active Schools champion that completed the online Assessment and joined the contest during the promotional period was entered into the drawing.

“Whether kids move through basketball, brain breaks or in physical education class, it is all about students moving for at least 60 minutes a day,” said Jason Collins, President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition member and retired 13 year veteran of the NBA. “By enrolling in Let’s Move! Active Schools, these schools are embracing physical activity and its positive effects on academic performance.”
