55 Schools Awarded Prizes for Active Schools Efforts

Fifty-five schools from across the country are being celebrated for their progress in creating an Active School environment and have been selected to receive physical education/physical activity equipment, materials and training to help applaud and support their efforts.

A school must have made improvements in at least one area of its Let’s Move! Active Schools Action Plan and note this success by marking the item complete to have been eligible to win. Then, all eligible schools were entered into a drawing and randomly selected.

Thanks to the generosity of the Let’s Move! Active Schools partners, schools that are committed to making active and healthy changes can be recognized and rewarded them with additional physical education and physical activity resources to help continue their great work.

Schools are encouraged to update their Let’s Move! Active Schools Assessment and Action Plan by August 31 to eligible for more progress incentives to be distributed in September – a great way to jumpstart the new year!

During the first (September 1- November 30, 2015) and second (December 1, 2015 – February 29, 2016) rounds of the program, 45 and 38 schools respectively scored a Let’s Move! Active Schools progress incentive.

Of the 576 schools that marked an Action Plan item complete from March 1 – May 31, 2016, the following 55 schools were recently awarded a progress incentive:
